Living a Spirituality of Communion

How pleasant it is when we dwell in unity, says the psalmist. But how difficult, too: in fact, impossible without a spirituality of communion focusing on unity and mutual love! This is what the Second Vatican Council proposed. 'To make the Church the home and the school of communion: that is the great challenge facing us in the millennium which is now beginning.' This is the central contention of Pope John Paul's blueprint for the third millennium, Novo Millennio Ineunte (43).
This volume presents the core elements of a spirituality of communion. In doing so it looks at the commandment Jesus calls both 'his' and 'new', the true measure of Christian love, divine revelation, and a fresh understanding of reality, including economics, in terms of a trinitarian ontology.
Thomas Norris is a priest of the Diocese of Ossory and lecturer in Systematic Theology at St Patrick's College, Maynooth. He is a member of the International Theological Commission.
